Swimming Canada supports our coaches in the pathway to becoming world leading in their field through education, mentorship, training, recruiting, hiring, retaining and holding accountable.
Swimming Canada has updated its coaching development system under the Coaching Association of Canada’s National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). The Swimming Canada coaching development system provides professional training, evaluation and development opportunities to coaches working with swimmers at every stage of development; guided by the Swimming Canada long term swimmer development model.
The Swimming Canada coach and swimming teacher education program is delivered through a multi-partner effort;

All programs in the Swimming Canada coaching education program strive to develop coaches who consistently
- Act in a professional and ethical manner
- Communicate with swimmers and parents effectively
- Teach the skills of swimming correctly
- Plan and run safe and effective practices, within a well designed overall plan
- Prepare and support swimmers at competitions
